Fly fishing artistic photography, shots and Edits of Utah fly fishing trips on the Provo river, Weber river, Strawberry river, and many other fishing locations in Utah. Utah has endless trout habitat and much of which is rarely fished. Utah fly fishing photography and video give the fisherman ideas and areas to fish here in Utah. However, to with the endless amounts of water make it tricky to know when and where these fish are. That's where the trial and error, not to mention the years the Utah fishing guides have spent in the back country pay off big. If you have the time, great get out there and use your senses and look for water that has the look, if it's easily accessed off the side of the road, I generally jump out, check the health of the aquatic insect life, and if it looks good the probability that the fishery is viable very may well be in your favor. At that point, during the summer, pull out a dry dropper rig, with your dropper ties off the bend of the hook. Length is debatable, but go three feet from your stimulator or an arm reach out of tipp-et. I like to get down and roll through those rocks where the trout are likely to be stationed. Hit a few bends with a stimulator and a buggy looking tungsten bead headed pheasant tail mix. Hit a few bends and keep your eyes open for fish along the banks. I do not no how many times I have done this but this is how I have located some of the best water in Utah. The smart thing to do is hire one of us for a day and show the ways of the seasoned Utah guide, much will be learned and will pay off for years in fish caught, and doing it right as opposed to a learning curve that can take years. I wish I had the chance to come out with someone like myself and be educated on volumes of information that would have made me into the fisherman and guide I have become. I would have arrived there much faster had a ponied up a few bucks and learned the ways of seasoned Utah fishing guide.A little tough though when your broke and going to school be become part of corporate America, If I had I known that ten years later, that I still would still be guiding the Provo river, and still broke, I would have made different decisions Anyway, such is life, and such is the devotion to most dreams. These trips are not generally offered but just call and ask, and we will set it up if you are serious about really becoming a well rounded Utah Fly fisherman or better yet, a "Utah Fly Fishing Pro". Trout Face. The blue mark on the cheek, denoting a pure strain of the German brown trout.
Kaleidoscope Brown Trout.
The Davidson's double up on Lower Provo river rainbow trout.
Native Utah Cutthroat trout caught in 2010. Beautiful fish, however they are only found in some Utah fisherys, and there numbers are low when compared to Brown and Rainbow trout. Brown trout are the hardiest of the species, and thrive in most Utah rivers, streams and lakes. This was a huge fish caught off the side of the road on our way up to drift the Missouri river up north. The ironic part is that this was one of the biggest fish and by far the most stunning caught just outside of Utah.Luckily the water was crystal clear giving me the ability to capture a fair amount of detail.

Brown trout caught on the lower Provo during a guide trip on April 29th 20ll. The photo is a photos grab from video footage and turned out pretty good for not being an actual shot with a standard camera.
Postured brown trout, from yesterdays fly fishing trip on the Provo river. Good looking brown, happy to see the fishery is in top notch health, and rather than going from good to bad, the Provo just keeps getting better, to the point where Utah fisheries biologist have encouraged people to keep fish as to keep a good healthy habitat, so trout like the above, are norm, and the Provo river is just about there.
We go where the trout go, and the Rubicon get's us there. Spring fly fishing can be extreme in terms of arrival, due to the muddy passage. However, the Jeep has gets us into the back country a good month earlier to target with a fly rod, eager, hungry trophy trout ready to crush the first good fly you cast. Fishing fever hits early after a long winter, and we "jump like a willies in 4 wheel drive" to locations otherwise that would have not been accessible, the Rubicon gets us deep into the Utah back country's smaller big fish streams, Adventure coupled with fly fishing makes for absolutely terrific fun.The last few years spring in Utah has been anything but predictable, so its nice to have the PCE Jeep to get our clients and us to to the less traveled back country Utah fisheries. Makes for a two fold mission, one, to arrive safely at the river to do some fly fishing and two to make it out of. All part of the Park City Excursions experience, Utah fly fishing is an adventure that includes a little bit of it all, a true Rocky Mountain experience.
